Why Guanacaste (North Pacific)? The region of Guanacaste is perfect to practice surfing, because we can find in its coasts a great amount of ideal beaches to practice this sport. Combined to the fact that they are the most popular beaches in the country, this region displays a vast amount of volcanos; among them: Orosi, Rincón de la Vieja, Miravalles and Tenorio, where a spectacular amount of biodiversity can be admired. Among the most attractive beaches in this area we find Tamarindo, Santa Teresa, Guiones, playa Hermosa, Langosta, Flamingo, Witch's Rock, Papagayo, etc.

How to get there?
San José - Guanacaste: from San José, the route to pursue is the following: we will take the General freeway Cañas in the direction of Alajuela; soon we will turn to the freeway # 1, Inter-American North, we will now pass by San Ramon, Cambronero and la Angostura until arriving to Esparza. There, we must continue by the North Inter-American freeway, we must pass by the towns of Barranca, San Gerardo, Barrio Jesús, San Miguel, Jabilla, Cañas, Corobicí, Montenegro, Bagaces and Salto, until arriving at Liberia.
Arenal - Guanacaste: If we are in la Fortuna, we will take the route #142, and we will pass through La Palma and Mata de Caña. When arriving at Arenal, we go down until Tronadora; soon we will be seeing Tilarán, Pueblo Nuevo and, once we arrive at Cañas, we will take the freeway # 1, Inter-American North, then, we will go through Bagaces, Pejibaye and Juanilama, until arriving to Liberia, well-known as "the White City".
Monteverde - Guanacaste: If we are in Monteverde and we wished to travel to Liberia, we must take the route # 619 towards Río Chiquito de Nubes; soon, we will reach Cabecera de Cañas and, later, Barrio Segundo de Tilarán, until arriving to Tilarán downtown, where we must turn to the route # 142 going to Pueblo Nuevo and Cañas, we will be approaching to the freeway # 1, the Inter-American North, which will takes us next to Bagaces, Pejibaye and Juanilama, until arriving at Liberia. |
